Reflecting on Mapping Freedom Week Eight

We made it! This will be my final reflection on the Summer 2023 Mapping Freedom REU! Thank you so much for following along these last few weeks; it has been a fantastic time. I learned so much working on this project, from metadata creation to furthering my historical research skills, I don't know how to list everything I learned, but I will try to summarize it quickly! I would say the most valuable experience I had while working at this REU was working in an intensive "graduate-style" course. In my undergraduate career so far, I have not had the opportunity to focus and create a research project that went as in-depth into a topic as this, so I enjoyed being able to experience what that work process was like. As far as this week goes, I was able to present my research! I think it went well, even through the few mess-ups I had, but I felt like I could get my message across the best I could. Overall there are too many areas of this REU that I could talk about, but I am very grateful to have had this experience and to be able to meet and work with so many amazing people. Thank you so much for this opportunity, and I wish the best for all future Mapping Freedom researchers!
